May your Highness then in the meanwhile deign to cast your eyes upon one grain of dust, and, in your pontifical clemency, to understand my prayer.

Papal indulgences are being carried about, under your most distinguished authority, for the building of St. Peter’s. In respect of these, I do not so much accuse the extravagant sayings of the preachers, which I have not heard, but I grieve at the very false ideas which the people conceive from them, and which are spread abroad in common talk on every side—namely, that unhappy souls believe that, if they buy letters of indulgences, they are sure of their salvation; also, that, as soon as they have thrown their contribution into the chest, souls forthwith fly out of purgatory; and furthermore, that so great is the grace thus conferred, that there is no sin so great—even, as they say, if, by an impossibility, any one had violated the Mother of God—but that it may be pardoned; and again, that by these indulgences a man is freed from all punishment and guilt.

Hence I have not been able to keep silence any longer on this subject, for by no function of a bishop’s office can a man become sure of salvation, since he does not even become sure through the grace of God infused into him, but the Apostle bids us to be ever working out our salvation in fear and trembling. (Phil. ii. 12.) Even the righteous man—says Peter—shall scarcely be saved. (1 Peter iv. 18.) In fact, so narrow is the way which leads unto life, that the Lord, speaking by the prophets Amos and Zachariah, calls those who are to be saved brands snatched from the burning, and our Lord everywhere declares the difficulty of salvation.

Why, then, by these false stories and promises of pardon, do the preachers of them make the people to feel secure and without fear? since indulgences confer absolutely no good on souls as regards salvation or holiness, but only take away the outward penalty which was wont of old to be canonically imposed.

Lastly, works of piety and charity are infinitely better than indulgences, and yet they do not preach these with such display or so much zeal; nay, they keep silence about them for the sake of preaching pardons. And yet it is the first and sole duty of all bishops, that the people should learn the Gospel and Christian charity: for Christ nowhere commands that indulgences should be preached. What a dreadful thing it is then, what peril to a bishop, if, while the Gospel is passed over in silence, he permits nothing but the noisy outcry of indulgences to be spread among his people, and bestows more care on these than on the Gospel! Will not Christ say to them: “Straining at a gnat, and swallowing a camel”?

But what can I do, excellent Primate and most illustrious Prince, save to entreat your reverend Fatherhood, through the Lord Jesus Christ, to deign to turn on us the eye of fatherly care, and to suppress that advertisement altogether and impose on the preachers of pardons another form of preaching, lest perchance some one should at length arise who will put forth writings in confutation of them and of their advertisements, to the deepest reproach of your most illustrious Highness. It is intensely abhorrent to me that this should be done, and yet I fear that it will happen, unless the evil be speedily remedied.

Ron Saxton opens many of his campaign appearances with a question: Are you satisfied with Oregon and its state government?
We're not.
This state has slipped and fallen. School funding is below the national average. Oregon is near the bottom in public support of universities. The number of troopers patrolling highways is only half of what the state mustered 30 years ago. Oregon's system of public finance is a mess, and Oregon, virtually alone among states, has no rainy day fund.
Worse, many Oregonians seem unwilling to lift a finger, or spend another dime, to remedy these problems. There is a weariness in Oregon and a deep cynicism of government. It seems there is nothing constructive voters would agree to right now, not more money for schools or health care, and certainly not reform of the state's flawed tax system.
Oregon cannot go on this way. This state must change, and the change must begin at the top: Voters should elect Ron Saxton as the next governor.
Gov. Ted Kulongoski is a good man, an honest and compassionate leader with a compelling life story who, over the past 30 years, has served in all three branches of Oregon government.
But Oregon needs new energy, new blood, new ideas and a determination to get them done. And only Saxton, the most capable Republican candidate for Oregon governor in the 24 years that Democrats have held the job, promises to bring that passion for change to the executive office.
History will be much kinder to Kulongoski's record than the multimillion-dollar air war Saxton has waged. Kulongoski led Oregon through four difficult years. The economy was still in free fall and the state budget was awash in red ink when he took office. Right away, he was confronted with a public pension system with $17 billion in unfunded liabilities.
He cut public pensions over the objections of the labor unions that had supported him his entire public life. Whatever happens in this election, Oregonians owe Kulongoski their thanks for his courage to do what had to be done for the good of the state.
Scandal and war also haunted Kulongoski's term. The man he chose to lead a higher education renaissance, former Gov. Neil Goldschmidt, was exposed for his long ago sexual abuse of a teen-age girl. Goldschmidt's reputation was shattered -- and so was Kulongoski's faith in a man who had long been his political role model.
The Oregon deaths from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan also have scarred Kulongoski's years in office. Kulongoski, himself a former Marine, has attended memorial services for nearly all of the more than 75 Oregon servicemen and women who have lost their lives. No elected official anywhere has shown more compassion and respect for the soldiers and Marines and their families.
Recent years have been full of challenges, though, and Kulongoski has met some but not others. He hasn't assembled a consistently strong staff. He hasn't worked effectively with the Legislature. Major areas of state government, notably the $9 billion Department of Human Services, have seen a parade of directors and years of poor fiscal management.
Most important, he hasn't persuaded the Legislature or voters to follow his lead. There's no reason to believe that will change. His approval rating is among the lowest of U.S. governors. The Legislature, like the state at large, is full of people ready to challenge him on his spending priorities.
Is there anyone, for example, who believes most lawmakers, or voters, would support Kulongoski's proposed tax on auto insurance to fund the state police patrol? That leads us to worry that two years into another Kulongoski term, the state police would be no better off than they are today.
Saxton, meanwhile, is eager to pursue creative, even controversial, ways to make available dollars stretch further. He doesn't believe the only choice is a new insurance tax, or the same shrunken state patrol. He's ready to attack the health care costs eroding education budgets. He's prepared to experiment with outsourcing some state administrative tasks to save money and be more effective. He's willing to go looking for cost savings, efficiencies and innovations where no Oregon governor has gone over the past two decades.
It is worth noting that Saxton was the first major political figure in Oregon to demand the reforms of the Public Employees Retirement System that over time will preserve several billion dollars for public services.
Saxton argues he is ready to govern with the revenue Oregon has, not with money he might wish it has. He says he can combine the healthy additional income now pouring into state coffers -- an estimated $2 billion in the next budget cycle -- with spending efficiencies to find money to make investments in education and public safety while simultaneously cutting capital gains and estate taxes.
As it stands, those numbers don't add up if Oregonians take up Saxton's invitation to pass Measure 41, which would cut income tax revenues by about $800 million a biennium. If 41 passes, Saxton would drop his capital-gains and estate-tax plans. It's not clear either whether he would use the $200 million corporate kicker to begin building a rainy day fund. We think he should.
We differ with Saxton on some other policy issues, too. Yet on the core issues -- strengthening education, bolstering the police and restoring the trust of voters -- Saxton stands just where Oregon's next governor must stand.
Saxton has a demonstrably strong record on education, the central issue of the 2006 campaign. He co-founded the Portland Schools Foundation. He is one of the very few top private sector leaders in Portland, or anywhere in this state, to give hundreds and hundreds of hours of his time and expertise to the local school board. He supports education spending reforms because he's determined to get more money where it absolutely belongs: in the classroom.
It is a leap of faith to endorse a former school board chairman over a sitting governor. If all was well, we would recommend that voters re-elect Kulongoski. But the times demand a fresh look at Oregon's problems and Saxton brings an open, independent mind to the task. We recommend that voters select him as their next governor.

The Clinton-China connection. How quickly we forget.
Found this article on WSJ and felt that the timing is good to remind of the prostitution and selling out of Americas economy and military by the Clintons. Often the effects of decisions that an administration makes don't occur for many years after the decision is made. People don't seem to grasp that which shows their ignorance. Like the situation we currently have with N. Korea being connected to the actions of Madeline "Isntverybright", and the rest of her commupossy.
U.S. Pays for Clinton-Riady-China Connection

Bill Clinton shares a close financial relationship with Moctar Riady, the Indonesian billionaire owner of Lippo Group. According to testimony before Sen. Fred Thompson, the Lippo Group is in fact a joint venture of China Resources, a trading and holding company "wholly owned" by the Chinese communist government and used as a front for espionage operations.
In 1993, before Bill Clinton was sworn into office, Lippobank Vice Chairman John Huang sought out DNC chairman Ron Brown. Huang, a major Riady-backed Clinton fund-raiser, sought to leave his six-figure job at Lippo to work as an underpaid U.S. government employee under Brown.
In a January 1993 letter addressed to DNC headquarters, Huang wrote to Brown for a meeting with Lippo CEO Riady. The letter was obtained from the U.S. Commerce Department using the Freedom of Information Act.
"Daer [sic] Ron," wrote Huang in a poorly written letter filled with broken English. "Congratulations for great performance during yesterday Senate hearing. I was watching it in the Senate Russell Building and came away with the strong feeling that you will do an outstanding job as the Secretary of the Department of Commerce in the coming years.
"I was trying to reach you. But there were too many people there and I was not successful to do it," noted Huang. "What I really want to do is to identify a convenient time in the coming week to arrange a meeting between you and Dr. Moctar Riady, our Group Chairman."
Shortly after the letter, Huang took a pay cut, entered his new position at the U.S. Commerce Department and accepted a huge bonus check from the Lippo Group. It was during his stay at Commerce that Huang received 37 secret briefings with the CIA.
In August 1994, CIA agents attended the "TPCC" or "Trade Policy Coordinating Committee" meeting with Huang. The subject of the CIA meeting was U.S. government-financed trade deals that contained "first family involvement" or illegal payments made to relatives of then Indonesian dictator Suharto.
According to documents obtained using the Freedom of Information Act, one project – the Edison/GE coal-fired Paiton power plant – had problems with a $50 million payment to Suharto's youngest daughter, Titek Prabowo, and her brother-in-law, Hashim Djojohadikusumo. The power plant had encountered difficulties with financing because the Asian Development Bank (ADB) knew it contained money for a Suharto family member. Directly after meeting with the CIA, Huang proceeded to place a three-hour call to his former employer, Lippo Group.
The newly released Commerce Department documents show that Huang, James Riady (son of Moctar Riady), Brown, and "brother-in-law" Hashim all met together in November 1994 – after Huang made the long-distance phone call to Lippo in August. The meeting took place inside Indonesia and was sponsored by James Riady and Hashim Djojohadikusumo.
Directly after that meeting, Bill Clinton endorsed the Edison project, and he signed a trade agreement to supply Indonesia with electric power using U.S. taxpayer loans. The trade agreement was worth billions to U.S. corporations such as Mission Energy and General Electric.
"As markets expand, as information flows, the roots of an open society will grow and strengthen and contribute to stability," stated President Clinton during the 1994 signing in Jakarta. It is no coincidence that Lippo Group was also Hashim's financial backer in his sulfur-free coal mine. Hashim obtained a no-cut, no-bid contract to supply the coal to the Edison/GE Paiton power plant. According to State Department cables, Hashim's no-bid contract was characterized the Achilles heel of the power plant, forcing the Paiton plant to sell electricity at a huge loss.

Despite being faced with a possible bailout due to huge losses, OPIC continued to back power deals inside Indonesia. The Commerce documents note that during the Clinton years, Indonesian dictator Suharto contracted for 26 U.S. taxpayer-sponsored power projects while his impoverished nation could afford only one such plant.
According to State Department documents, Unocal, Calenergy and El Paso Energy were all subject to "corruption, collusion and nepotism" in several other billion-dollar power plant deals with the Suharto government. One State Department cable included an entire section titled "Dealing with unwanted partners."
"Unocal executives told resources officer that the firm is close to reaching a deal with its partner, PT Nusamba (controlled by former President Soeharto [Suharto] crony Bob Hasan) to sever ties in two production sharing contracts (PSC) in East Kalimantan and East Java," notes another State Department cable.
"According to Unocal, Nusamba put USD 20 million into Gunung Salak, and it would be difficult, due to the financial structuring of the deal, to undo the partnership."
The U.S. government documents show that from the gas pump to the electric outlet, every global consumer pays for corruption inside the energy industry. The state Indonesian Power Co., PLN, estimated that it lost more than $18 billion from Suharto corruption inside power plant contracts.

Bill Clinton shares a close financial relationship with Moctar Riady, the Indonesian billionaire owner of Lippo Group. According to testimony before Sen. Fred Thompson, the Lippo Group is in fact a joint venture of China Resources, a trading and holding company "wholly owned" by the Chinese communist government and used as a front for espionage operations.
In 1993, before Bill Clinton was sworn into office, Lippobank Vice Chairman John Huang sought out DNC chairman Ron Brown. Huang, a major Riady-backed Clinton fund-raiser, sought to leave his six-figure job at Lippo to work as an underpaid U.S. government employee under Brown.
In a January 1993 letter addressed to DNC headquarters, Huang wrote to Brown for a meeting with Lippo CEO Riady. The letter was obtained from the U.S. Commerce Department using the Freedom of Information Act.
"Daer [sic] Ron," wrote Huang in a poorly written letter filled with broken English. "Congratulations for great performance during yesterday Senate hearing. I was watching it in the Senate Russell Building and came away with the strong feeling that you will do an outstanding job as the Secretary of the Department of Commerce in the coming years.
"I was trying to reach you. But there were too many people there and I was not successful to do it," noted Huang. "What I really want to do is to identify a convenient time in the coming week to arrange a meeting between you and Dr. Moctar Riady, our Group Chairman."
Shortly after the letter, Huang took a pay cut, entered his new position at the U.S. Commerce Department and accepted a huge bonus check from the Lippo Group. It was during his stay at Commerce that Huang received 37 secret briefings with the CIA.
In August 1994, CIA agents attended the "TPCC" or "Trade Policy Coordinating Committee" meeting with Huang. The subject of the CIA meeting was U.S. government-financed trade deals that contained "first family involvement" or illegal payments made to relatives of then Indonesian dictator Suharto.
According to documents obtained using the Freedom of Information Act, one project – the Edison/GE coal-fired Paiton power plant – had problems with a $50 million payment to Suharto's youngest daughter, Titek Prabowo, and her brother-in-law, Hashim Djojohadikusumo. The power plant had encountered difficulties with financing because the Asian Development Bank (ADB) knew it contained money for a Suharto family member. Directly after meeting with the CIA, Huang proceeded to place a three-hour call to his former employer, Lippo Group.
The newly released Commerce Department documents show that Huang, James Riady (son of Moctar Riady), Brown, and "brother-in-law" Hashim all met together in November 1994 – after Huang made the long-distance phone call to Lippo in August. The meeting took place inside Indonesia and was sponsored by James Riady and Hashim Djojohadikusumo.
Directly after that meeting, Bill Clinton endorsed the Edison project, and he signed a trade agreement to supply Indonesia with electric power using U.S. taxpayer loans. The trade agreement was worth billions to U.S. corporations such as Mission Energy and General Electric.
"As markets expand, as information flows, the roots of an open society will grow and strengthen and contribute to stability," stated President Clinton during the 1994 signing in Jakarta. It is no coincidence that Lippo Group was also Hashim's financial backer in his sulfur-free coal mine. Hashim obtained a no-cut, no-bid contract to supply the coal to the Edison/GE Paiton power plant. According to State Department cables, Hashim's no-bid contract was characterized the Achilles heel of the power plant, forcing the Paiton plant to sell electricity at a huge loss.

Anyone who works in high tech as I do can tell you the ratio of Liberals to conservatives at the typical software house is about 5:1. If anyone can present data to support of dispute this statement, which comes from my own experience in working for over 6 differnt high tech companies in Silicon forest, I would gladly allow it.
That said, why would most of the major search engines and directories be any different? Above is an interesting article by Nathan Tabor. I guess if this threat is real, conservatives need to get off their butts and either starting gaining eReal Estate or create conservoogle.com search engine!

Gee, I wonder, could slanted reporting by news organizations we know are anti-republican possibly have any other motivation? Dear fellow Illuminists,
Many years ago, I started our country down the path of socialism by capitalizing on the current times and applying the "Hegelian dialectic" to the desperate citizens of the United States. It was very successful. The plan, which I call, "The crock pot cooking of America" produced results far greater than we ever imagined. As you know, the biggest threat to our plan of a one-world economy, one world government, and a unifying, pluralistic, one world religion is the inability to control the average people. To deal with this problem if individuality and capitalism, we strategically put our people in high-ranking positions of the major media outlets; we even managed to change the previously negative perception of living off the "tit" of government and have made the concept of entrepreneurial capitalism and individual greatness an “exception” to the rule and not for the average citizen. One of the most important plans we are accelerating, is eradication of fundamental Christian beliefs from the public schools while replacing it with relativism, humanism, Darwinism, and non-competitive grading systems in order to stifle any of the truly talented children to prevent them from becoming a threat in the future, as adults. Note to self: we need to deal with the “Intelligent Design” folks. They are a real threat to our agenda because up to now we have been able to present Brother Charles’ book (Origin of the species) as fact, even though Charles himself did not believe it, according to the statement at the end of his book. We have made great strides in breaking down these fringe group idealistic attitudes toward marriage, the family, borders, language and culture, and have even been able to alter public perception, that the majority, are actually in the minority.
However, as history has shown us, repeatedly, our biggest roadblock is this confounded second Amendment that the founding fathers just had to put in place. It has truly been a thorn in my side whilst dreaming of a truly Marxist utopian society where we enlightened individuals can guide the multitudes. I want to commend you in taking on the grand mission of this last roadblock to our dream of a truly united socialist world. I did what I was able to do in my time; social security, dealing with the problem with gold, etc..., and you, are doing what you can, in your time.
Regarding guns, I never imagined it would be possible to unarm the multitudes. As strongly as those silly patriot infidels felt about their “Right to Bear Arms”, but you applied my method, and are making great progress. Slow cooking, baby steps...toward unarming those who are not part of our elite circle. We know that Mother Russia (rest her soul), The Nazi's, Serbia, China, and many other attempts at "enlightened" world domination would simply have failed before getting started if the average citizen was armed sufficiently to defend themselves. The same is true for our plans. Therefore, I take my hat off to you for striving toward such a monumental malefaction. Keep up the good work. However, I must warn you, Brothers & Sisters of the Owl; you may not know this, but patriotic idealistic evangelical Christians are not the only threat to our plans. The Muslims know about us too! I know through Miss Clinton you are working on this problem of lack of "control" of information on the Internet so I don’t want to overwhelm you as she seems to have this and many other roadblocks to socialism well in hand. However, I cannot stress how important it is for this phenomenon called The Internet to be controlled and censored. Information is the biggest threat to us after guns, and we must have complete control of it.

Since I am a natural born citizen I can only imagine how this attempt to overthrow 4 of our states and get away with breaking current federal laws. The basic idea is that certain republics of the united States; Colorado, California, Arizona, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, Oregon and parts of Washington State belong to their ancestors, and they want it back. My question is, at one what point does this transition to a seditious threat being made by domestic terrorists. What are the qualifiers that caused our federal agents to kill innocent women and children at ruby ridge and Waco? What kind of behaviour and statements made those folks targets of investigation.
Have Mecha and "The Race" (La Raza), ever made statements in the same category? If so is the FBI, CIA, NSA and even possible the DOD watching this group? I certainly hope so. I would welcome any ex-military or intelligence community to comment on this if nothing more than to give us some piece of mind.

My Father, my Oma and all my aunts and uncles migrated here from Holland. Since I am a natural born citizen I can only imagine how this attempt to overthrow 4 of our states and get away with breaking current federal laws. Make no mistake, the agenda of these radical groups is nothing less than this, and could potentially lead to civil war if not dealt with. This country was built on people who immigrated here with a common dream of a representative republic. If one wants to see what is going to our economy if we do this amnesty crapola, just look at what happened when the Berlin wall fell to real estate values.

Raising Boys review that Amazon wouldn't post
I decided to post this review I made on Amazon because Amazon did not post it. I can kind of understand why as my intent to write a book review sort of turned into a personal Blog. So I'm putting it on my blog.
Here it is:
Bottom line, if you’re an evangelical Christian who believes in the inerrant word of God (The Bible) as a guide to live your life and raise your kids, you will agree and be inspired by everything Dobson writes in this book. If you are a flaming liberal or "luke warm" "claim to be" “lip service only” Christian that has joined the ranks of folks who have invented their own "easy" and "PC" version of Christianity, you will most likely hate it and post comments like all of the rest who voted less that 4 stars. Bottom line, there is a large movement of men and women who are completely disgusted with what the public schools, the 60's, and the militant feminists, left us in the way of a country following FDR. Except in the most extreme cases, Christians sat by quietly and let this country go straight to the sewer being content as long as we still had the pledge, Christmas and Sunday mornings. Most thought, ah...let the hippies (now, ex-hippies turned yuppies breaking their own ideological rules. Yippies?) smoke their grass and run around naked in the mud as long as they leave us alone. Unfortunately, the militant homosexuals and feminists didn’t stop there. Dobson knew this long ago, he was there, as did many other respectable leaders in our Country, but it was too little and too late to stop the countries decent into the abyss of the “progressive freethinker.” Fortunately, (I say that painfully) the liberals decided to push forward much more aggressively than strategically prudent.
What am I talking about? Had it not for the liberals crossing the line to the point even agnostics have noticed, (I say agnostic because atheism is a logical fallacy) the wake up call may have never sounded and Dobson may have not seen the need to create “Focus on the family” when he did and write books such as this. The funny thing is the very reasons that made the neo-progressives so vigilant in their cause, has now brought the sleeping and near silent followers of Christ, back to life and ready to take back this country. Thank you (Liberals) for making us understand what it feels like to be a minority and have every thing important start to be taken away, one by one, simply because of who we are and what we believe. Thank you for making discrimination against followers of Christ not only acceptable but politically correct. It is what was needed. Finally, thank you Dr. Dobson, for giving us tools to train our sons in becoming the kind of men that will be able to carry the torch and take back this country for Christ, before it’s too late. If it isn’t already. All of you who didn’t like this book, you might use a little thing call "research" when buying books and make sure you don’t venture beyond bubble of "there is NOOO right or wrong" or "Jimmy, it’s how it makes you feel that is important" mentality before making a purchase. I mean, heck, Dobson is a follower of Christ and believes in the truth of scripture, what did you think you would find? Advise on how to teach condom use to your 5 year old? The country has become worse that Sodom and Gomorrah ever were and we are seeing the results of this. Yes, God is love, God is Merciful, but God by his very nature cannot allow unrepentant sinners to go on unpunished because he is sinless and JUST.
Keep up the good work Dr. Dobson, there are some of us out there who are striving to be the leaders of our homes and country.

Laodicea Community Church (seeker services available!)
The Apostate Church Today
So if you happen to have stumbled to this blog, you may be asking what I am referring to in the title. The Lord has been revealing to me over the past couple years exactly how far off we really are as a whole. I am talking about the average Christian who goes to church every Sunday like clock work, drops a few dollars into the bucket, sings so everyone can hear during the 45 minute jam session, and has christian bumper stickers boasting his or her position on key issues. Usually these bumper stickers are on vehicles that just cut someone off, are purposely driving slow just to irritate people, or have cigarettes flying out the window. No, I am not advocating that a person can't be saved and use tobacco or alcohol on occasion. That is another complex issue for another blog. I personally don't smoke anymore, at least not like I used to. My reason is simply that I want people to notice a difference and want to do my best to take care of the body the Lord gave me. I don't want to be just another Christian viewed as a hypocrite by non-believers. Whether their view is biblical or not isn't the point, they are after all, non-believers. The point is that they expect Christians to march to a higher standard and watch very closely to see that we do. Why shouldn't we be marching to a higher standard?
You may find that my writing is slightly contentious in tone at times and may be erratic. Please be patient, this is my first try at this and I am very much at the beginning of this venture. The contentiousness is what it is because I feel strongly about these issues. The purpose of this blog is to be as politically incorrect as humanly possible. Its about truth and getting to the bottom line of things. A crusade to challenge the new status quo. I hope if nothing else it will at least get people thinking about the place Christ has in our lives in contrast to the place Christ should have in our lives if we were to use the old testaments wisdom and new testaments apostles as our gage.
The subject of the end time apostate church is covered in the book of Revelations (and others) as part of end time prophecy and is referred to as the Church in Laodicea. So why do I think things are so bad? Why am I being so critical? For one, because I honestly believe the Lord has guided me to my true calling which, incidentally, is way off from the career I chose for myself. Christian apologetic writing to be more precise. Part of that calling included doing exactly this, revealing the truth about things, even if feathers get ruffled. Next to this text is a book from a very reputable theologian and apologist, John MacArthur When one reads from scripture on the subject, one can't help drawing certain correlations to many of the modern day mega churches and attitudes of the common evangelical. Some of these claim to be "word of faith" movements, which is another subject for another category. Well, don't take my word for look at scripture yourself.

3:14 "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write the following: "This is the solemn pronouncement of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the originator of God’s creation: 3:15 ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot! 3:16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth! 3:17 Because you say, "I am rich and have acquired great wealth, and need nothing," but do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked, 3:18 take my advice and buy gold from me refined by fire so you can become rich! Buy from me white clothing so you can be clothed and your shameful nakedness will not be exposed, and buy eye salve to put on your eyes so you can see! 3:19 All those I love, I rebuke and discipline. Think about some of the large churches today. When is the last time you heard your pastor give crystal clear sermon on what is required in the way of repentance when we become new creatures in Christ. You often hear the good part, not the hard parts that require sacrifice and suffering. What kind of Christian is the modern church producing? If you ever have a chance to check out Buck Williams "real" ministry, do it http://www.wayofthemaster.com/. I really have to give the guy credit because unlike many, he gets the point which is impressive coming from a Hollywood kid. We need to ask our selves, "What did Yashua really do?". Not what would he do. What did Peter, Paul, Mathew do. Its all there if we are willing to read. How committed were they? How much time did their walk with Christ take out of the daily routine. Do you think they struggled to fit it into their busy schedules like many of us do today? Do you think they prayed prayers asking for God to bless them financially because they claimed it in Jesus name? Come on people! How blind we have become. How deep has the enemy entrenched himself right smack in the middle of our church? Satan is keeping us so busy with lattes and small group activities, we just don't have time to do what should be the Lords work.

My oldest daughter goes to a small private school. She is constantly commenting about how all the other kids (Christian kids) have parents who buy them everything. They act and talk no differently than public school kids. Why is that? Now, part of this is lack of, or incorrect guidance and leadership within the school itself. However much of this is simply because they are children of parents who simply want the best of both worlds. I have a new word for them. Yupstians. They want it all and by golly are smart enough and will work hard enough to get it. Sound great, like apple pie and homemade ice cream except, no, you can't have it all. No, it is not the Lords will for all Christians to be wealthy, healthy, without crisis, illness, or challenges to the faith. If anything, its the opposite. A good sign that your in a Church like this is that people will tell you that you need to just keep prayer for whatever it is you want. Healing, money, a miracle. As if God forgets and needs to be reminded. People have really forgotten about the reverence and Holyness of God. It is sad really. Some folks almost act as if they are ordering at a fast food drive up window! If you are a Christian and feel like your life is hunky dory and everything is just A OK, you better take a real close look at things and figure out what you are doing wrong. Why assign troops to overcome enemies that are not a potential threat? Its a waste of resources. Think about that. If your plagued with bad luck, constantly are in prayer but still sick, thank the Lord for keeping you in his will with that affliction. Its good to be in the Lords will, Amen? When that happens we need to ask the Lord for strength to endure what he sending us, and give us wisdom so we might learn the lesson he is trying to teach. Getting a bit off subject here but this goes back to the current modern day church scene and what is being preached in the pulpit. Health, wealth and happiness. With a marketing slogan like that how can you help but attract thousands of eager customers. Harsh? Maybe. God bless the small church that struggles but refuses to dilute its message. God bless the church that sees what a "seeker" service really is and does not follow the trend. God bless the big church that has grown due to a strong mature congregation. The recipe: strong leadership, sound biblical interpretation, and a consistent undiluted message of the Gospel and of repentance. Its that simple in my humble (ahem) opinion.
